I was only on b&b basis. Requested porridge for second day breakfast but order not passed on. Did get it on last day. Had scrambled egg which was made up of mainly milk as like a cow pat on plate and so little egg content that it did not bind together. Second morning asked for 2 boiled eggs which when arrived were no more than pullet eggs and got lost at the bottom of egg-cups. Why so mean with quality and quantity? Breakfasts more suited to full breakfast menu only and not individual items. Hotel needs better lift facilities and only one which comfortably holds 3 people or 4 squashed according to size!! Moved room (very amicably) as floor boards squeaked in room, adjoining room and that above. Offered top floor room and satisfied with that. |

A good value place to stay and a fantastic location for Bournemouth sea front and town centres. The staff were helpful and friendly and the rooms were spacious and clean. My only concern is that I was about 40 years younger than the average resident and the décor somewhat reflected this. Great if you like floral friezes, net curtains and old-fashioned blankets! Not so good if you're younger than 65! One slight irritation was that they never issued a 'do not disturb' sign so we were endlessly being woken up by the over-eager chambermaids... oh and the bar was like something out of a time-warp and should be avoided by any discerning drinker (one of the hottest days of the year yet mixers served at room temperature and there was no sign of any ice!). |
