This is my third review of this hotel. I like it for its location. It's away from neighbouring low-class Paddington and Bayswater Queensway. The noise outside the hotel at night comes from the hostellers at the London Hostel a couple of doors down. They hang around on the sidewalk, and loudly. The next morning, there's always a workman disturbing the peace with his loud comments; typical. The staff this time were not as efficient, and the maids were very rude in the corridor (about me) for no intelligent reason. The front desk staff rarely smile and are quite unwelcoming, although the person who greeted me when I checked in was very nice. The breakfast staff were nice and helpful; they need to change the breakfast, though - some fruit and light yoghurt and skim milk needs to be added. I didn't like the room as much this time and I've stayed in this upgraded room before. The blankets need a wash and the room didn't seem as clean. The saucers were had food stuck to them. |

I stayed at this hotel not long ago, for it's amazing price for that standard of hotel in London from laterooms.com website. Loved my upgraded room the first time. I stayed two nights this week; 21 and 22 July. First night good room with a closed off entrance to the room. Good facilities, including a fridge if needed. Bathroom was a good size and 95% spotless. A valid and important point to make, however, is when a guest arrives at a hotel, the concierge staff should be warm and friendly and welcoming. The girl at the desk was none of these. The first time I stayed here, Cristiano from Italy, was working there (helping out as a favor, he said) and he was charming and exactly how a concierge should be. The breakfast girls were lovely to me and very sweet. Breakfast was okay, too many carbs (but a lot of people don't mind that). Some fruit would have been nice, and low fat or fat free yoghurt not full fat and a better choice of milk than full-fat, perhaps skim or soya or at least semi-skim. Their check out is at noon and they've been flexible with this, and they have a good luggage storage concept. I like the location too. My room was behind the Greek Orthodox Monastery; it's nice to have good and quiet neighbors! I checked in again the following night after discovering the same price (actually US90dollars) but for London it was reasonable. My room G4 wasn't as good a location and quite noisy; sounds of thundering feet above and the people in the room next to mine in the enclosed area of two rooms were a little noisy. The next morning, the girls offered to stay around after the breakfast time when I came down to grab my small box of Bran Flakes and a juice, but I wouldn't expect it and ate in my room. I would stay here again definitely. I'm not a big TV watcher (depends, I suppose) but it is always nice to have UK Digital or Sky. They only had a few extra channels. Overall, I really like this hotel. The housekeeping staff were very nice and helpful too. |
