Only had breakfast at the hotel and was disappointed that it didn't live up to the £20 price tag! But great hotel - def go back! |

This is supposed to be one of the better hotels in Winchester, yet I was really disappointed at the dreadfully slow and inattentive service both at reception and in the restaurant, and the shabbiness of the room. Admittedly we were on a Laterooms rate, but the rack rate was almost double what we paid and I'd have been very unhappy to pay that and have a curling carpet, scruffy mismatched furniture and a 1960s bathroom . The taster menu in the restaurant was fine, not as good as we'd hoped (nor as good as the reputation) and the wine chosen by the sommelier wasn't quite right; we were practically herded out of the dining room at 10:30 by the unintelligible waitress resetting tables for breakfast. However, the setting is wonderful, the bed was very comfortable and the food was fine, if not deserving its plaudits. |

A great find in the Winchester country side. We spent the day cycling around the estate and enjoying cocktails overlooking the fields. Looking forward to my next visit!! |

Lainston House was a terific last minute find at LateRooms.com, as we were wandering around southern England with our family. The gracious house and grounds are picturesque and could be the setting for a Jane Austen novel. Our rooms were enormous and lovingly appointed. Dining was a delicious and elegant experience, although the delectable morsels were not quite large enough to satisfy the appetites of our teenage sons. All the staff is lovely and attend to every need. |

We were so impressed with this hotel. The staff were so attentive and could not have been more helpful. We were upgraded to a better room because we arrived early and our room was not ready. The bed was comfortable, it was quiet with a lovely view. The bathroom was huge with a walk in rain shower as well as a bath and the towels were the biggest I have ever had in a hotel. |
