My partner and I stayed wile a wedding reception was taking place so there was loud music until about 11pm which was very clear from the room we stayed in. Small bedroom and bathroom, quite basic room facilities (similar to travel inn) but the hotel had made an effort and the bed was one of the most comfortable I have ever experienced. Staff very friendly. Food very overpriced in my view. Beautiful views of hills and pastures, enjoyed a walk the following morning by the river. |

I was extremely happy with this hotel. Beautiful location and a real gem of a building. Like an old stately home, in a country park. I had only booked a single room, but got a large double with a lovely view over the grounds. Also, the hotel feels welcoming and not impersonal like larger hotels. I didn't eat there are night, although the room service menu seemed very reasonable. The breakfast selection was very good, but the cooked breakfast was average. The only other thing was my bathroom was a bit dated. However, for the location and charm of the hotel, this didn't matter. A real find. The booklet in the room said Hitler had requested it as a private residence if he won the War, so it must be good! I have heard you get a discount if you work for the Post Office as they used to own it. Also., they have a lake and reception will give you bread to feed the ducks/black swans. |
