Trying to check in was a mission as the reception for The Stables Lodge was locked and not staffed. We went to the associated hotel which is adjacent to investigate and they said they would call through and let The Stables staff know we were coming. We returned to The Stables reception to find it was still locked and we had to use the intercom to attract someone's attention.
The parking area is filled with threatening notices about exhorbitant parking rates if you park overnight (55 pounds) and stressing that there are zero minutes of free parking. So we felt had to pay for parking just to check in. However, once we checked in we were given a 24 hour parking permit and a wonderfully spacious luxurious room. We had dinner and breakfast in the Grill Room, part of the associated hotel, and thoroughly enjoyed both.

Only criticism is that the lodge reception is un-manned, and you have to press a buzzer then wait for someone to arrive. Felt a little impersonal, however, they arrived quickly and it is under cover so you don't get caught in the rain (it always rains in Wales !). Rooms were clean, modern and well laid out. Noise was minimal considering close proximity to road and shops. Staff polite and helpful. Food was not very well presented and arrived with no cutlery, sauces etc. I had to find those myself. However, the portion was ample and it tasted good. Betws-Y-Coed is a beautiful place and this hotel couldn't be better placed. It has ample parking and by neighbouring standards offers excellent value for money.

The hotel was easy to find. The staff were attentive and very pleasent. The room was as expected apart from the mattress which had seen better days. There was a fire alarm activation in the morning the alarm was heard in the corridor however the alarm in the bedroom did not function correctly. Would use this hotel again

Fabulous location, very good value for money , however can be a little noisy at night due to doors banging and loud plumbing but on the whole can recommend and will be staying there again soon.
