Originally a coaching Inn dating back to the 1600's the charming ambience and relaxing atmosphere creates the perfect place to slow down and unwind and let our caring team look after you. The Macdonald Swan Hotel (to which Lake District poet William Wordsworth affectionately refers in his poem ‘The Waggoner’) is the perfect base for exploring the Lake District. It prides itself on its centuries old reputation for true English Hospitality and personal service, and welcomes back many loyal customers year after year.

Very friendly and helpful staff, gorgeous location with stunning views - but just a short walk from the village centre.

very friendly and helpful staff, rooms could do with redecorating , some carpets were threadbare, hotel quite clean though. The food and drink was very expensive as were the rooms. The choice of food was also limited and you only had a choice of a 2 course or 3 course meals in the restaurant making this expensive. Hotel in excellent location. If the rooms were redecorated and the food and drink prices were lower I would certainly visit the hotel again

Fabulous. Gorgeous very big room with very luxurious feel.
Just bit pricey but you get what you pay for and it was luxury.
