Every concievable last detail has been subtly included. Each room has been designed for comfort and convenience - from the discreet privacy hatches, which prevent room service intrusions and luxurious bathrooms to state of the art entertainment systems to handmade beds. Located on Edinburgh’s historical North Bridge, The Scotsman has been converted from the Scotsman Newspaper’s baronial offices into one of the most stylish hotels in the city. The hotel is just a minute's stroll from both Princes Street and The Royal Mile. The hotel brings together the efficiency of the 21st Century with careful to innovative design but most of all huge comfort and the very best of Scottish hospitality. Unique elements of the design are evident throughout the building, helping to establish an overall feeling of well-being and exclusivity. The 56 bedrooms and 13 Suites are each different in shape, interior design and size, resulting in a variety of rates. The comon thread throughout all the rooms is the use of genuine Scottish Estate tweeds as part of the interior design. Some four dozen estates consented to allow us to use this very unique part of the Scottish heritage. The Scotsman Hotel is currently the holder of the title "Best UK Business Hotel Category, 2007 - Conde Nast Readers Travel Awards"

Exceptional from beginning to end and in every respect. You certainly get what you pay for! We fell on a very good room rate and consequently expected to be put in an airing cupboard or underground box room (especially as our stay coincided with the final few days of the festival). But everything was first rate, a truly five star hotel experience. I would have no hesitation in recommending The Scotsman and hope to return again very soon. In short we could not have been happier with our stay and it's bargain price made it all the sweeter. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Very nice hotel with lots of character, very convenient for Waverley Station. Room facilities first class and staff very friendly and efficient. Only minor quibbles I had was that the room was unbearably warm and that the air-con did not seem to be working and also that the fire alarm went off in a false alarm at 7 am...twice!! I would definitley stay here again.
