Bestwestern - Castle Inn Hotel

Good alround value for money hotel - would stay again.

The hotel was not well signposted at all and was difficult to find.
The food was of good quality but portions extremely small. No vegetables whatsoever were served with the meal.

good value - good hotel with leisure suite which we enjoyed; high quality fittings in a lovely large room, which opened on to the garden with stunning views of the fells. Wide range of choices at breakfast, decent service including a warm welcome for late arrivals!

The reception staff were lovely - well 1 lady in particular was very pleasant and gave me a "suite" as it was my birthday. This was very unexpected.
The room had a lovely view over fields and gardens and although myself and my friend had a fair trek through various corridors and up stairways to get to it, it was very quiet which was also good. I must say that this hotel is a far cry from the hotels I frequently stay in (boutique style city hotels) but it was pretty much one would expect for the local area.
The restaurant is definately to be avoided, however. The poor girl that was serving seemed unable to cope with what was expected of her and would frequently comment to guests how the manager keeps telling her off! This, coupled with her choice of low-rise trousers and far too visable underwear with excess flesh on show every time she bent over, although a little amusing at first certainly isn't a professional way of working and made the whole experience more suitable to "Fawlty Towers". Myself and my friend did observe the manager telling off the waitress for something in full view off the guests and it was very uncomfortable viewing!
Drinks took 20 minutes to arrive to the table and then in a dirty glass and the manager cleared away my drink before I had finished. Food very average and tasteless.
