Children are welcome, and a large family room is available.At the rear is a private car park, which is much appreciated by our guests. As well as single and double bedrooms, we offer a family room, and suites with self-catering facilities. Our four-poster bed is ideal for honeymoon couples or anyone taking a romantic break!The hotel is a grade A listed building from the Georgian period, and it boasts very high ceilings and spacious rooms, with many period details. This is a building with character and history, for the discerning guest who is bored with modern "mass-produced" hotel rooms. In the elegance of this period setting, you will discover modern comfort and convenience in all fittings and facilities.The Ballantrae Hotel offers the personal touch. Room ok and pretty clean. TV in room had the worst reception ever for a hotel. Breakfast buffet was basic but willing to pay £5 for the cooked breakfast - however we were told that we should have ordered them the night before (not told this on arrival). Not great customer service - a smile and a good morning would have gone a long way!

Good central location with the added bonus of off street parking at no extra cost. Room was adequate but a few marks on the bed linen lowered the tone. Breakfast is continental..help yourself.. or you can pay £5 extra for a cooked breakfast. Was surprised to find that the hotel didn't have a bar but then there are plenty of bars nearby.

Advertising offers car parking which is misleading. Six spaces only and the one we were offered would have blocked in four of the spaces. Advised to park on multistory which, for overnight, cost £19!!
