The Olde Anchor Hotel

2 Rhos Street, Ruthin, Nr Chester, Wrexham, Mold, Llangollen

The Ye Olde Anchor Inn was built in the 18th century, with its low ceilings and oak beams, it used to be a stopping place for drovers on their way from Holyhead to Shropshire. The Inn was tastefully renovated in june 2003 to provide high quality accommodation and match the already established reputation for fine cuisine. Our Kitchen is open seven days a week, offering lite bites, and The Anchor restaurant Menu with a wide range for all palets. Ye Olde Anchor Inn, set in the mediæval town of Ruthin, offers the perfect spot to spend a night whilst touring North Wales. Ruthin and the surrounding area offers the most fantastic opportunity for walking, from the mediæval Offas Dyke, to Lady Baggot?s Drive which, in season, is covered in bluebells and wild garlic.

This hotel was booked for a long weekend in North Wales to celebrate my partner's birthbay. The price we paid was for bed & breakfast & evening meal, plus a complimentary box of chocolates and a flower basket, so it was reasonable value for money.
The building itself is very old, so it is quite cramped and dark. our room was adequate, but not particularly clean. Unfortunately, as is the case in many older buildings, the plumbing is incredibly noisy, and as a light sleeper, other guests kept waking me up. Also, it's rather a shame that the local youths tend to gather on the green outside and their rowdy behaviour also kept me awake and worrying about the security of my car. The staff, whilst never rude, were not particularly attentive either. The evening meal was very good but I was surprised that the restaurant was as quiet as it was. It did the job, but not one to rush back to !
