Doubletree by Hilton

We were disappointed with aspects of our room. Having booked into the platinum area we expected a higher level of accomodation. We had only one comp. bath robe and the soft drinks consisted of two small cans of britvic orange. We were also disappointed with the en suite which had a broken toilet roll holder and a screw holding the shower in a fixed position on the riser rail preventing adjustment. We enjoyed our rare night away together but for the company not the accomodation. Would not stay here again.

The hotel was recently been bought out by the Hilton group and the difference is already showing through. The staff had a totally diffrent attitude from my previous stay and the effort in clealiness is and service is geatly improved. However so of course has the price.
I did hear one man complain as they would not secure his luggage in the lobby which was a bit mean. they advised they could not take the responsibility. I have never come across a hotel having been in many across the globe taht would not look after your luggage even small guesthouses do it tio encourage the punter back.
For me the only area that needs addressing is some of the rooms and corridors which require a refit, the carperts looks tired as does the bathrooms though I am sure that the Hilton will get round to this in time.
If you are looking for value for money then this is not the hotel to stay in but if money if no option and you are not too fussy about the bathroom not being quite uptodate then this is the hotel fro you.

Very Disappointed !! When we arrived to check in at 3pm >> there was a queue out the door !! No one seemed in a hurry >> even the management ignored the situation !! So we went into the Bar / restaurant while waiting only to find that there was no staff at the bar or in the restaurant !! I presume he/she was serving !! Again no one offered to help !! Our room stank of smoke >> we were upgraded but charged an extra £20 !! We rang up to find out if breakfast was included and told YES >> When we checked out we discovered it was not !! This hotel is now called the Doubletree >> what a shame it can gone downhill fast !!
