THE GRANGE HOTEL

Reception staff were helpful & friendly with booking/room choice & needs during the stay. Hotel parking is quite limited & I found it frustrating to see that the Hotel staff parked there forcing guests to find alternative parking in the street with all is restrictions. The breakfast team were not as attentive as may be expected & more interested in discussing their weekend activities than ensuring guest service & table place setting needs. Never-the-less Hotel has pleasing old/traditional atmosphere & features which make a change to the characterless chain Hotels. I'd stay again, but not at the over priced standard rates the Hotel wish for.

The room was very comfortable and well furnished but was smaller than expected - particularly as it was a superior room.
Breakfast was very good.
Proximity to York centre was great - a 10 minute stroll.
The hotel description is a little misleading as it advertises the availability of health and fitness facilities - granted it does advise these are at extra cost but I can't recall it mentioning they are two miles away from the hotel!
The car park is not large enough for the hotel and the surrounding streets are for permit holders only - get there early to claim a space!
Good hotel at the discounted price we got by booking late - not worth the full rate in my opinion.

A beautiful hotel, only 5 minute walk into York. We stayed at the front of the hotel which was quite noisy at night as it is on a main road. Lovely room but probably more suited to couples than families with children.

Oh dear, what has happened to the Grange. We got married here 6yrs ago and it was excellent. But now, well, dirty room, WARM wine in the restaurant, poor service at breakfast staff who are distinctly uninterested in the customers and on the whole a let down. Had same trouble last year but decided to give it one more chance as location is great, but we will not be returning.

Car Park is small so arrive early! Food is good, though service at breakfast was patchy, I was directed to a table that had not been reset. Customer service at the main desk was excellent.
