The reception staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and quiet, with a spectacular view over the estate.

we arrived at 1.00PM and a roon wasn't ready: fair enough. But it seemed like housekeeping were calling the shots as the guy on reception told us he thought they were being difficult and that many rooms were cleaned and ready to go.
Returning after a wedding locally, at 10.30PM, the reception we got was abyssmal: 3 people on the desk, no one else to serve and they took 5 minutes before breaking up their storytelling (after I'd reminded them there were customers to serve - by this time there were 5 of us!). The girl who grudgingly asked for our name proceeded to get deflected by 1) internal telephone call with much in-joke gigling 2) someone walking in asking for change 3) more natter with the other desk guys. Then she told us we hadn't appeared on their computer and took another phone call. I angrily turned to one of her colleagues who located our booking quickly, and got us directed to bed.
The room - 623 - was fine, small for an executive, but newly painted and OK with a clean bathroom.
We arrived fro breakfast at 0855 into a makeshift marquee where total anarchy reigned. The place was a complete mess after conference delegates had just left, with no fresh tables set. A clearly understaffed operation led to our be asked desultorily what we wanted and when we said breakfast we were told 'finished'. The chef then appeared with plates for 2 other breakfasters and took charge to some effect by producing a plate of ice cold fruit salad and uncooked bacon on wet toast. The waiting staff in the marquee paid us no attention and we had to clear ourselves a table to even sit down. The tea was cold and seved with CONDENSED milk, as all the milk urns were flat empty.
I stay in a lot of hotels but cannot remember a more Fawlty Towers set of poor service experineces, but ours were unfortunately without any of the humour. Disgraceful. I'd be interested to hear the managers comments on this, as I have the feeling I wasn't the only one badly looked after that day.

Staff here are lovely and very helpful. I enjoyed using the leisure facilities, esp the gorgeous,clean outdoor pool. My only complaint was that my room was overlooking the hotel carpark so I was frequently disturbed throughout the night. Food was to a good standard, but with a 3 course set price, expensive if you wanted less than all 3 courses.
