Wonderful location and a real country house feel. Somewhat formal in the restaurant but good quality. The rooms are comfortable but a little noisy as you would expect from such an old building. |

This hotel, in the secluded spot it is in - with views of Snowdon, is in itself a very pleasant place to stay. There are some nice touches, such as the complimentary plate of fruit and chocolate sauce as well as the sloe gin! The quality of the dinner was excellent and the choice of wines is phenomemal. But, the really important test of a hotel for me is its breakfast. Although not up to the standard of breakfasts I've had in some Swiss hotels, this comes really close - and beats anything I've had elswhere in the UK. Home made muesli, plenty of fruit, homemade marmalade and bread - with a choice of virtually anything you can think of if you wish to have a cooked breakfast. |

The first thing that struck us was how friendly the staff were and a stunning location the Hotel was in. If you want to get away from it all for a night or two then I would definitely recommend it. Sloe Gin and fruit & chocolate in the room wa s agreat touch. The meal was the absolute highlight though, being a real foodie, it takes a lot to impress me, but every part of this seven course epic (if you count the little tit bits in the bar and the multiple desserts!) was excellent, with great prompt, professional and friendly service. Breakfast the next day was great too with good quality sausages, bacon and freshly squeezed juice. Other hotels that skimp on cheap breakfasts could really learn a trick from this hotel. All in all excellent! |
