Hotel was easy to find in a lovely location. We stayed in the annex section and unfortunately the room was a disappointment for the price. We stayed at a B&B the following night for half the price and it was far cleaner, and therefore better value for money. Staff were excellent, friendly and helpful and the breakfast was lovely too. Views of the golf course are stunning. Just overpriced for what we had. Shame really.

This is a genuine 'out of the way' hotel that I'd recommend for a quiet break. Thorpeness is completely uncommercial and there are ample opportunities for coastal walks or fun on the beach. Warmly recommended.

We arrived on a dark, windy, rainy night and the hotel was not well sign-posted so we did not arrive in the best of spirits. I am sure that in the summer the place is great, but we found it somewhat inhospitable. The restaurant was closed by the time we arrived and when we asked where we could go and eat were told that "there are a couple of pubs around, but they have probably stopped serving now" Not true! Just a couple of miles down the road is a great village and several very nice trendy retaurants, brightly lit, were doing great stuff. I would have thought that, not being able to provide any service themselves, the least the hotel could have done would be to point us in the right direction and not leave us to fend for ourselves.
Our room was in an annexe, the corridor to which was extremely damp with accompanying smell that pervaded our room . Remedial work was obvioiusly going on because at 8 a.m the following morning we were rudely awoken to the sound of a hammer drill in the next bedroom. As I have said, I am sure that in the season it is a great place and that we were just unlucky.
A fine breakfast was served in a very nice conservatory by cheerfful girls that went a long way to make up for the draw-backs.
Yes, I would use it again.
