We booked this as a special treat, with dinner included on all three nights. We arrived on the saturday late afternoon. The room, which we upgraded to was supposed to be a premium room, it was OK, but there was a layer of dust on everything, and the toiletries left a little to be desired. Dinner was terrible - not only was the food pretty poor, but the staff service was very much couldn't care less. We wondered what breakfast would be like, but it was much better, although the staff again had a similar attitude. Housekeeping did not improve over the next couple of days, and we didn't get any more soap, shower gel etc. We were apprehensive about dinner on the sunday, but we were very pleasantly surprised at it was excellent, and staff were competely different with a great attitude, and good customer service. Dinner on the final evening was again much better. This hotel looks wonderful, but it is sadly let down by disappointing lack of attention to detail, probably because the staff are all very young, and there doesn't seem to be any senior or management presence to ensure that things are as they should be. Also, over the weekend there must have been atleast six different large functions on, which probably contributed to the extremely poor food on the saturday night, but if they can't keep their standards high, then they should not over-reach themselves which function bookings. It's a real pity that this hotel lets itself down - it has all the possibilities of a superb country house hotel, but just doesn't quite make it. |

This hotel is showing its age, it needs a general refurbishment and more luxury needs to be added if it is to justify its' list prices. At the LateRooms tariff we stayed at, it was good value, but had we booked at the full asking price we would have been very disappointed by the standard of the rooms and the leisure club. The staff were uniformly excellent though. |

Really enjoyed our 2 night DB&B stay here. The restaurant staff were very friendly led by Merek the restaurant manager. Beautiful dining room - try to get in the main area since it is the nicest part. The pool is very different having been built in the centre of an old chapel! Bed room was quite small but well laid out. Grounds are beautiful. Feel a million miles from home and it was just an hour away. Also excellent value. |

Hotel a bit hidden away. You need SatNav or better directions than are available with yourselves.Water in sink didn't go down. We reported it but nothing happened.Room smelt damp and foisty. This hotel appears to have major water/plumbing problems. When we needed info and assistance about a nearby well-known destination they were pretty clueless. In the morning breakfast was limited choice and very slow.Fresh eggs were ordered but we had to wait an age for them to arrive. This place clearly lives on past glories. |
