This is without doubt the worst hotel I have stayed in for a long time, even the staff thought it was poor. The check-in was slow due to lack of staff, none of the lifts were working, which was a real problem for people on the upper floors. The room itself was actually not too bad, apart from the noise from the outside, however the public areas were dingy, and unwelcoming. The whole Hotel needs refurbishment and is a place to avoid until that is done. |

My experience of this hotel was reasonable. The hotel must have been grand in its day but now is very tired in decor . My room was adequate, clean and had what was required for an over night stay... a comfortable bed, clean linen, tea/coffee facilities and a TV [limited channels and pay TV] I had plenty hot water..and I was on the 4th floor. The overall decor in general areas was needing much attention, however the size of this hotel explains why these would take time to address. This did not detract from my stay. The 'welcome' I recieved on checking in was luke warm [and I am being kind] The meals I had were fine. Breakfast especially, gave a very wide choice of continential and full hot scottish breakfast fare. For the traveller ,it is attached to Central station... a bus outside takes you right to the bus station and Queen St station...you cannot get much better than that! For an overnight stay this hotel met my needs perfectly at the price I paid through laterooms.com [Considering some of the comments on this site I was very presently surprised indeed!] |
