We stayed for 2 nights whilst attending a wedding in the Lake District. We arrived weary from a 3 hour trek from Yorkshire in busy Friday evening traffic. The Service was friendly and extremly helpful. Within 30 minutes of arriving we were sitting infront of a roaring log fire sipping our pre dinner drinks, bliss, instant relaxation! Food was served in the elegant dining room, a superb four course menu. My husband thought his pork dish was possibly one of the best he has ever had and my scallops and black pudding were sublime. The Assistant Manager was extremly informative and attentive and talked us through his superb cheese selection. Breakfast was equally impressive. The bedroom was very comfortable and fluffy robes and Molton Brown toiletries all added to the feeling of luxury and relaxation. |

The hotel is well signposted off the A66 and ideally located for Keswick and Cockermouth. Food is excellent , the breakfast being one of the best I have had. Bedrooms are very clean and comfortable. The bar area does tend to get a bit crowded but the residents lounge area is extremely comfortable with open log fire. The wine list is quite wide ranging and well priced. Overall, a very pleasant weekend. |
