Welcome to Stone Head House nr. Lothersdale and Cowling in North Yorkshire. Built in 1596 just off the Pennine Way, this beautiful Manor House later served as a working farm, and now a guest house in the small valley of Stone Head near Lothersdale and Cowling. Stone Head House is one of are only a handful of properties in the hidden valley of Stone Head Nr. Lothersdale, all of similar age. Every effort has been made by the owner to restore Stone Head House in an appropriate way. The whole of the downstairs has Flagged floors. Breakfast is cooked on the Aga in the quaint farmhouse kitchen then served in the dining hall with its enormous inglenook fireplace, a feature which Stone Head House is well known in the area around Lothersdale. We feel we offer an excellent b&b service at very reasonable rates. Stone Head House provides great accommodation for walking holidays on the Pennine Way section, between Lothersdale and Cowling.

Directions to Stone Head House

Leave Skipton towards Carlton passing through the village of Carlton continuing uphill and over the moors crossing two cattle grids. After the second grid you will pass a radio mast to your left, continue along the road then down the large hill with a left turn for Lothersdale at the bottom. Do not take the turn, instead continue up the hill taking your next sharp left slighlty back on yourself. Follow this road which eventually sweeps round to the right and down a hill to a crossroads. Cross the crossroads and travel for approximately 400 metres, we are the first farmhouse on the right hand side with double gates into the driveway between the garage and the house. Welcome to Stone Head House.

It would have been nice to have a T.V. in the room. If staying for more than one night, a chest of drawers would be useful, also a chair. Because of staircase accommodation not suitable for disabled which needs to go in the advert.

This property has real character, it is very old and eating a full English breakfast in a room with a 1596 inglenook fireplace is very special. The restoration on this house has succeeded in creating somewhere comfortable without destroying the sense of age. Our bedroom was spacious and the bed very spacious! The valley is quiet and unspoiled and the river running through the property full of ducks and geese. We also had an excellent evening meal at the place recommended by property owners.
