we had a lovely room right at the top of the building (this was a bit of a trek and unsuitable for anyone disabled), however the room was creatively charming and had a lovely view of the sea and the old pier. we loved the bathroom too though it might have been nice to have a curtain on the door! the hotel was eccentric and laid back with art everywhere, we loved the atmosphere and would definitely stay again. the lack of breakfast was fine for us as there are very nice breakfasts to be had in brighton. the situation is also nicely central. |

Great hotel with a exellent view but with the advantage of being back from the main road, the hotel is really well decorated and is so much more intresting than most other hotels. The reception I got on arrival was very friendly and I didn't have any problems with my room. Paring just out side wish is reasonable and the distance to the town is only 5 minutes walk. Would recomend it to anyone. |

The first room we were put in was cold and damp largely because the window was open, and didn't shut properly. It had a good view over the square but we decided to change rooms as the quality of the room was more important than the view. After being shown a number of rooms we decided to move to one located at the back of the hotel which was more sheltered. The artwork is very interesting however the decor is very out of date and the fixtures and fittings are quite shabby, for example the carpet in our room had a large iron burn. All of the bathrooms have glass doors which can't be shut properly from inside. We were assured that previous guests had found this "intimate", though we thought otherwise. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Our supplies of tea and coffee weren't replenished when the room was serviced but they were happy to give us more when requested. It did seem that the staff were new to the job as, for example, they were unable to provide a full receipt for our stay, but they did seem to be trying their best. |
