It would be wrong to criticise anything about the Hawk and Buckle because our hosts displayed so much enthusiasm and effort to ensure all went well. If there were any problems, we would put them down to teething troubles caused by Rod and Helen not having been there more than a matter of months, so we suspect that we may have been the first occupants of our room since they took over the inn. We were surprised that there wasn't a waste basket in the room, and the milk with our coffees on our first night there was past its date. This was, I hasten to add, rectified as soon as it was pointed out. The food was of a high standard, and the congeniality of the staff made this a most enjoyable stay. |
