Even a gruelling Friday evening trip up the M25/ M40 was worth it for the wonderul stay we had at the Talbot Inn. On arrival we were shown to our top quality room which was absolutely spotless, and having settled in went for a few drinks in the bar. There were a number of Christmas parties taking place in the restaurant and we therefore thought the chances of getting anything to eat were slim. How wrong could we be. Within minutes a table was found for us and we had enough time for a couple of drinks at the bar before our meal arrived. Excellent food at a really affordable price. |

We found the hotel to be excellent and particularly enjoyed our lunch (try the Winter Vegetable Crumble!) |

I'm reluctant to give this place the glowing review that it deserves, on the basis that I won't be able to get in next time I want to book! This is a small homely pub, just 5 miles from Oxford with easy access. It's ideal if you want a weekend in Oxford, without paying the ridiculous inflated prices in the city centre. It's also only 15 miles from the Cotswolds along the A40, so equally easy to get into the countryside there. We stayed in two rooms in the annexe, which is brand new (only built this year), 8 rooms finished to a very good standard, I would say 4 star equivalent. I stay about 70 - 80 nights a year in all sorts of hotels and regularly pay two to three times this rate for poorer accomodation. The standard rate of £65 for a double / twin and £45 for a single is excellent value and should not be compared to a standard B&B. |

The rooms are brand new and built to a good specification. They feel more like small apartments, than b+b's. Excellent stay and facilities. The rooms still smell new!. I would recommend to the owners to install a mat for footwear inside the door, or you'll be replacing the carpet sooner than you'd prefer. |
