Hotel Noir

This three-storey hotel is less than ten minutes walk from York Minster Cathedral and 0.5 miles from the National Railway Museum. Hotel Noir provides a complimentary full English breakfast each morning served 7am to 9.30am weekdays and 8am to 10.30am at weekends, and has complimentary wireless Internet access in all areas. The guest rooms have FREE minibars, televisions, and tea and coffee facilities.
All rooms have a safe, iron and ironing board and TV together with an IPOD DAB Digital radio/alarm clock (can take other MP3 players).
The hotel bar serves hors d'oeuvres between 6.30pm to 7.30pm on Friday/Saturday nights. Free secure car park on site (on a first come first served).
No minimum 2 night stays of all our standard and superior rooms. Queen rooms require a 2 night stay at weekends.
Check In between 2pm - 11pm, alternative arrangements can be accepted for events such as York Race days.

The hotel was ideal for our needs, only a 10 min walk into the town centre and the staff were all very helpful and friendly.
The hotel room and bathroom was yet to be refurbished, but the room was spotless, the linen and towels were immaculate and the facilities in the room were excellent.
The breakfasts were lovely and the olives etc in the bar in the evening were a nice touch whilst having a drink or waiting for a taxi to go out.

It would appear that the hotel has recently re-opened, as doors were being painted during our visit, and when we got up in the morning "wet paint" signs were everywhere. We were aware that our room would be small, but it has not been refurbished and was very noisy. There was ducting going through the wardrobe, probably from the kitchens which we were above, and the fans were on from 5.30am until midnight. It may well be that the superior rooms are of a higher standard, and from what we saw we would not want to stay again at least until the refurbishment has been completed.
