The Cartford Inn

Cartford Lane Little Eccleston, Poulton-le-Fylde, Nr Preston

The Cartford Inn is a 17th century coaching inn nestling on the banks of the River Wyre on Lancashire’s Fylde Coast. Newly refurbished in 2007 the “Cartford” combines traditional features with contemporary style.
As a result of extensive refurbishment we have achieved a unique ambience where a warm welcome is always assured.
An open wood fire welcomes guests in the bar lounge area where you will find several cosy corners where guests can enjoy a quiet drink. Food, from an informal snack to a three-course meal, is served throughout the lounge, alcoves and games room (where dominos, cards, chess, backgammon and other board games are available). Alternatively the same menu is available in our first floor restaurant “Mushrooms” for those seeking a more traditional dining experience.
We have also created a charming beer garden overlooking the river Wyre with stunning views of the surrounding countryside with Beacon Fell and the Trough of Bowland as a backdrop.
Although in the heart of the Fylde Coast countryside the “Cartford” is less than ten minutes from the M55 Junction 3 and equal distance from nearby Blackpool.
We hope that, like us, you will be captivated by our idyllic setting and be seduced by the charm and ambience of what we believe is a unique venue.
We look forward to greeting you!
Patrick and Julie

The Cartford Inn is in a beautiful setting on the river by a small bridge , we were given a lovely welcome and invited to choose the room we prefared, we found it hard to chooe as both rooms were beautifully furnished with amazing french furniture and upto the minute decor in the shower rooms. We chose the one with three windows and better views up and down the river. The Manageress was very welcoming and the staff were all very friendly especially the Breakfast Cook who seemed really concerned we enjoyed our breakfast, which we did, she encouraged us to help ourselves to some fruit which was freely available and even offered us more breakfast if we needed it, we didnt as the two eggs, sausage ,two rashers or bacon ,tomato and mushrooms with toast were enough for us and I think anyone! We stayed two nights and will go back, only two little points, 1. Take a hairdrier, I didnt and there is none in the room, there was no problems getting one from the staff to borrow, and they said they were looking at getting them in the roooms.
2. We had a meal on one night my husbands fish dish was superb but sadly I didnt enjoy my crab fishcakes. Not tasty enough the filling could have been anything and was not readily recognisible as crab, they were also quite oily and not very appetisingly presented wuith just a small dressing of chopped veg some sort of salsa, equally tastless . It was a pity as we have eaten at the Cartford before and have never had a prolem with the food. Try it the Cartford it was wonderfull ,just dont have the fishcakes.

Every bedroom was stunning! We were asked which room we wanted. We chose the bridal suite, and next time we will choose the red room.
Bedroom was spacious and comfortable with a river view. The Inn is beside a small toll bridge, but traffic noise was not a problem.
No bath, but a good shower. Nice coffee available in the room. Good choice of digital TV programmes.
We ate in the restaurant. It was very busy. The food was very nice indeed.
Breakfast in the morning was very tasty, andan 11 o'clock departure time keeps everything calm and low key.
All the staff were warm and welcoming. You felt you were being treated as an individual.
Highly recommended. Hope that doesn't mean I won't find rooms free when I want to come back.
