The Lifeboat Hotel is in a fabulous location, but it is in serious need of a revamp. The bedroom was pretty tired, the bathroom smelt slightly mouldy and although the room wasn't dirty, it needed a good deep clean i.e. there were cobwebs on the lampshade and ceiling, black mould in the shower, dead flies around and behind the furniture was dusty etc. Our evening meal was very medicore - cold chips and the starter didn't arrive at all. Sandwiches were also very ropey - butter was put on with a shovel. Breakfast however, was very tasty and for £65 b&b it wasn't bad value - just don't pay full price as you'd be very disappointed! |

If you want a quiet meal we recommend the restaurant as the food was excellent. The Pub food looked good but it was very busy as it seemed to accommodate the neighbouring camp site and locals too. Some rooms were over the bar, but it was empty and quiet by 10pm, so not really a problem. We paid half the room rate, via laterooms, and now we've been we would not pay the full price of over £100 per night, it wasn't really up to that standard. The room was comfortable but small, and the bathroom was large but needed updating. |
