The Old Manor Hotel

Trowle common, Bradford On Avon Bath

The Old Manor Hotel is a delightful Grade 2* listed Georgian manor and farmhouse with rambling farm buildings and courtyard that have been sympathetically developed over the past 20 years into a fabulous 19 bedroom hotel. All the bedrooms are en-suite and many have antique half-tester or 4 poster beds, all with the latest comfy modern mattresses. There are four lovely suites in the courtyard. The decor is simple Old English with many antiques I have collected over the years. The walls are hung with old prints or original pictures which are evocative of times gone by. It is my vision of what a hotel should be. What a hotel used to be. Colin Scott, our chef, produces a fine three course Table d'hote dinner in the evenings. He has also created an interesting room service menu which is very popular. We offer traditional English dishes, as specials, during the week, much to the delight of our corporate guests. The style of food we offer is simple rustic fare using local and seasonal ingredients which you enjoy in the old milking parlour with its massive carved stone fireplace.

Did someone say "quirky"? Yes it is, and I loved it. Nice old building; we stayed in a purpose-built (I think) single storey annexe but tastefully sympathetic to main building. (I suspect the annexe rooms are better than the main building rooms.)
In the afternoon sun, we sat out in the little informal garden in front of the main building in the picture they show, and sipped our drinks. Fabulous. Food excellent, 25 pounds, wine not at all expensive, service low-key but efficient and relaxing.
We were paying 75 pounds for a double; easily worth that, but remember, it is quirky.

The room we had was small and the eaves cut into the ceiling which we walked into which was painful
