Ardeonaig Hotel and Restaurant

South Side Loch Tay, Ardeonaig

You’ll find Ardeonaig on the south shores of Loch Tay, not far from the village of Killin. Set within fourteen acres of private gardens (recently planted with fruit orchards, wild berries and grape vines), the views across Loch Tay to the summit of Ben Lawers are quite breathtaking, especially when dusted with snow. Our Finglen Burn tumbles down to the loch and its pebbly shoreline with boathouse and moorings. Yet all this tranquility is just over an hour’s drive from Edinburgh or Glasgow. (Or a twenty minute seaplane flight from the latter.) We’re small-scale and intimate, very personal. There are just a nineteen rooms in our main inn, two cottage suites and five new burnside Rondavels. Good food and fine wine in a relaxed atmosphere has been at the very heart of Ardeonaig from the first meal we served. And it’s a real motivation behind our recent building and other improvements. Now, we have the tools to build on our word-of-mouth reputation and formal awards like the Michelin Bib Gourmand and UK Food Inn of the Year. There is a new dining area we have called The Cellar (as in Wine), chef’s tables in the kitchen to witness the passion and drama, an informal area for light meals and snacks christened The Study and, of course, our familiar dining room. What hasn’t, and will never, change is dedication to the freshest, local seasonal produce, cooked with care and flair to bring out its full flavour. A menu dictated by what’s best in season. Unfussy, unpretentious, but definitely not run-of-the-mill dining.

This was the best hotel I have stayed at from arriving in the car park we were given asistance with the luggage to recption and to the room, the staff were so pleasent and helpful. The food was out of this world. The location was wonderful and so well set out with gardens and loch side walk. I cant really praise them all enough.

A delightful welcoming hotel, the hotel has been recently updated in a South African theme. Time, thought and money have made this hotel very beautiful. The staff were extremely professional and helpful. Our dog was made very welcome.
The hotel is easy to find, and the small windy lochside road is a lovely drive on the way there. The hotel appears to be developing its gardens still and we would love to return in another year to see how the gardens and the walk down to Loch Tay is developing.
We had our evening meal in their restaurant. The wine was absolutely delicious, there was quite an extensive choice of wines, they were a little pricey, but the quality of our wine lived up to it.
The food was beautifully presented, and we enjoyed our evening meal. Breakfast was served in a different room, equally as delightful, ate some interesting dried and stewed fruits!! Good for the constitution!!!
Our room was very comfortable, we didn't notice at first that there was no television in the room, we found this quite a pleasant experience, and very peaceful. the only other thing I can think of to say that we possibly missed was there was only a bath and no shower in our room, I'm sure other rooms will have had showers, again though it didn't matter having a bath, and helped to make it relaxing.
would love to return - top marks!!
