Full of character and well run. Lovely grounds and a good pool in the Tudor Tithe Barn.

We were upgraded to The Stables Courtyard Suite which comprised of a sitting room with small kitchen area, settee, chair and television; and a bedroom with a further television, en suite bathroom and separate toilet. The sitting room and bedroom were large and secluded and close to the Leisure Club. (Do go for a swim, the facilities are good and although the pool isn't large we had it to ourselves for most of the time we were there).
This is not a moan but there was a wedding taking place when we arrived and we had to get past the official photographer at the front door. The hotel reception is very close to the front door too so it was a bit of a squeeze as the wedding guests arrived after us. They also took over the bar and lounge during the afternoon which may present a problem to other hotel guests who want to relax in the hotel. (If you want an afternoon drink it's much better to get one from the Leisure Club).
We also ate in the Leisure Club restaurant on the Saturday evening (best to book during the afternoon as it gets busy). The food was excellent and very reasonably priced and the staff gave five star customer service.
Really enjoyed our stay, thank you to all the staff that looked after us.

Stayed at the hotel for just one night. Overall impression is of a nice place to stay. However there were a few niggles that took the edge off things.
Our room (no 22) was adequate but on the small side. At a hotel of this quality I would expect face cloths to be provided.
Dinner was good, but again let down by little things. Had to ask to be given bread with the meal. Asked for strong coffee after dinner and it was pretty weak. Both these things were corrected when requested, but we felt we shouldn't have had to.
On the plus side the building is ageless and you expect to find Miss Marple in the lounge. The pool was good and the water just the right temperature. The dinner menu was limited, but the food served was delicious. Mildly suprised that at breakfast there was no fresh fruit - it was ll tinned.
Overall I would recommend the hotel but feel that they need to pull the stops out a little more to justify the prices charged.
