Situated just a few minutes walk from the centre through the museum gardens is the Jorvik hotel.
Located in Marygate of the edge of the bar walls, it is the ideal position for a stay in the ancient historic city of York where past and present fuse into an eclectic mix.
We have 22 en-suite bedrooms, of which 10 are newly refurbished rooms.
The types are standard double or twin, four poster, superior double and superior zip (double/twin)
All rooms have a colour television and tea and coffee making facilities as standard.
All stays include full English or continetal breakfast.
We would like to infom all guests that we are still undergoing refurbishment but this will not disturb your stay.

By car- From the York ring road A1237 turn on to the A19 signposted York Centre. Follow the road all the way to York for 2.3 miles. Turn right before the walled gate which is sign posted Marygate. Jorvik hotel is 3/4 of way down road. By foot- Walk straight through York Museum gardens. Jorvik hotel is directly opposite.

breakfast lovely, location great, room very very poor. booked a double but they changed it to a twin when I arrived. no other rooms were available, they had given my double to somebody else. The twin room was a poor standard. They said they were upgrading rooms but thats what they said 4 months earlier when I previously stayed there.

After 8 hours browsing on the internet for a special hotel to stay in for our 10th anniversary, we chose the Jorvik. We were not impressed sorry! good - the staff were professional and friendly the room was clean the breakfast lovely Bad - had to pay £20 on top of stay for parking as the hotel didn't have enough spaces. room quite small and jacuzzi tiny! next door neighbours were noisy until 4am! no 24 hour reception like it says on the advert, so there was nothing we could do about it! plumbing made an awful screeching noise several times throughout the day and night and when we went to settle our bill we mentioned this and all we got was 'oh dear we will have to do something about that then won't we'. We believe we should have been compensated a little, for it completely ruined our one night we had for our wedding anniversary. oh, and there was no hairdryer either like it advertised, unfortunately I had washed my hair and had to go out with it wet. all in all we wish we had chosen a better hotel.
