The Ship Coaching Inn

moore street upper framilode, south gloucester

Set next to the stroudwater canal, the ship coaching inn reflects the old charm sadly missing from many of todays mass market establishments.
A favourite with C A M E R A members, the ship carries beers locally sourced with real ale prominent (you must try the hob goblin) and with a roaring log fire its the perfect place to be on a cold winters night..
Top london chef kieth gardner has recently joined the crew and his menu s reflect his passion for cooking.Lemon sole, sea bass and shellfish are delivered daily, but kieth also offers good old fashioned english cuisine such as faggots, lambs liver and onions and of course his signature dish Martha gardners steak and kidney pie(a recipe learned from his grandmother)Traditional roasts are a favourite on sundays and childrens portions are always available.
Rooms are en suite with tea and coffee making facilities available.
The ship is an ideal stop over point for Gloucester,Slimbridge or the Cheltenham races.Racegoers should note the all inclucive prices for all cheltenham meets.
Walkers will enjoy the 5 framilode walks all starting at the ship and taking from 2 to 4 hours.Watch out for king fishers, waders and numerous birds of prey.Children will enjoy feeding the resident ducks coots and swans.A local car hire specialist offers a free colection/ delivery service from local bus and train stations for guests requiring car hire.
Dogs are very welcome at the inn but only guide dogs in the main restaurant and please keep all dogs on a leed. You can e mail us with any questions on shipcoaching@googlemail.com.

Friendly service, good food, sadly what could have been a fine room let down by a tired bed and mattress. I would be pleased to return when the beds have been replaced.

The welcome, the dinner and breakfast was excellent. Definitely dog friendly. A beautiful location with some pleasant walks nearby. Unfortunately, the beds were uncomfortable and in need of new mattresses.
