The hotel itself is in a quiet street away from traffic noice. It is set amongst a beautiful and well maintained garden/terrace and has a very nice conservatory/breakfast room/restaurant. The choice of breakfast was OK but as I've stayed for a week, I tried out a variety of "cooked" dishes. Apart from the porridge, all that I tried was not as described. (example: Vine tomatoes turned out to be very bland grilled beef tomatoes etc.) but generally speaking, OK. If I was nit-picking I would also say that some of the staff was very nice but others needed some charm-school lessions (such as the Chinese lady). The room we occupied was pleasant enough with a beautiful view overlooking the garden but very crampedl. The toilet towel rails were giving off heat (and it was very hot) which made the room rather sticky to sleep in. The plughole in the bath was grimey and there was not enough space for a women's toiletries, so parked this onto toiletflush basin. Lovely soaps and towels, though. The furniture in the room should be built-in, this would save a lot of space. There was ample parking space (a must for my journey) and it was well sign-posted. Reception staff was very helpful. |

Our room was tiny and even though the bed was small for a double it was very diiffcult to get between the end of the bed and the TV cabinet, indeed trying to get to the bathroom in the dark was hazardous due to the risk of colliding with the TV cabinet or tripping over the bed cover. The room was also very hot and although a fan was provided the lead was too short to get it in front of the open window to blow in some cooler air. For the price I would expect a much better room. The food and service in the restaurant was outstandingly good. If we stay in Alderley Edge again we will probably stay elsewhere but we would have dinner in the restaurant at the Alderley Edge Hotel. |
