Here at Plas Derwen we pride ourselves on offering fantastic quality. From the standard of our food, to the atmosphere and seclusion of our wonderful gardens, and our contemporary boutique bedrooms. Situated on the foothills of the Brecon Beacons National Park, we are ideally located to take advantage of all the area has to offer, whether you're looking for good food, an afternoon with friends in the sun, or a short activity break.
We have 10 en suite guest bedrooms ranging from well appointed doubles and twins to larger family rooms that can sleep up to 4. Each room is fitted with a plasma screen TV, and other facilities including play stations, DVD players and tea and coffee making facilities. We have 4 bedrooms in our main building which have great views of the surrounding countryside and are named after the hills and mountains visable from the windows. The stables have 6 bedrooms all on one level with an adapted bedroom with extra facilities for wheelchair use.

Directions to Plas Derwen

Abergavenny sits on the South-East edge of the Brecon Beacons. By train there is a mainline railway station, just south of the town, coming from London and Cardiff via Newport, and the North via Hereford. It's less than a five minute walk. But with luggage, book a taxi to collect you. We recommend the reliable...Sheila’s Taxis, 01873 857954. There is an excellent network of roads to Abergavenny. You get here from the Midlands via Ross-on-Wye on the M50 or from London and the East, via the Severn bridges, on the M4. Leave the M4 at junction 24, and go North on the A449 up to Raglan, and then West on the A40 to Abergavenny. You'll approach Abergavenny on the A4042 from the South, the A465 from the West and North, or the A40 from the East. These roads meet at a roundabout just south of the town. Take the A40 signposted to Abergavenny. Soon after the roundabout, Plas Derwen is situated about 100 yards up on the right hand side.

Very accesible hotel on the outskirts of Abergavenny. Stayed for one night to attend a wedding in the town. Great location and a short stroll home at the end of the evening. Very large room/bathroom. Would certainly stay at the hotel again.

We booked after 11 pm the previous night, but everything was in order at the hotel. Our room was in the converted stable block - about 20 foot square and containing, in addition to the large bed, two convertible sofas. Obviously a familiy room and rather generous for just 2 people. Everywhere was exceptionally clean and superbly decorated - I wouldn't have been surprised if I had been told that it had only opened for business the previous week, say. We also ate our evening meal in the restaurant - the prices were very reasonable and the food was excellent.

Easy to find just as you drive into Abergavenny. 10 minutes walk from the town centre, if you are a reasonably fast walker. Attached to a pub and restaurant, with a good sized garden with seating at the back. Plenty of parking, and we were able to park right outside the door to our room. Room was excellent - was either new, or recently totally refurbished. Much larger than what you might expect from a chain hotel charging similar prices, and even had a sofa. Staff friendly and came with us to the room to make sure it was OK for us.

Our room had been recently refurbished and was clean and welcoming. We were a bit disappointed with the quality of the food in the restaurant but the service was efficient and friendly.
