I'd stayed in the Berkley Court which was this hotel before it was taken over by its current owners. Overall the standards have slipped since then - no room service at all, rooms aren't as nicely furnished and no mini bar/fridge in the room. Bit disappointing overall in a hotel that used to be beautiful

We were aurprised to discover that we had to pay to leave our car in the hotel car park. There was a bare wire visible in the bathroom, where the extractor fan did not work. The entrance area was befitting for a 4* hotel- but the room was no better than average.

With fantastic staff, what was once a beautiful hotel promised a lot however this hotel was brought by a property developer recently for demolishion with the aim of turnng it into a housing development. As he couldn't get planning permission he has reopened it as a hotel, and trust me when I say I hope he's a better developer than hotelier otherwise his buildings will fall down! Everything from the broken kettle, broken iron & board through to the paper cups and off milk in the room made the experience just unpleasant. You have to pay for each meal as you receive them as they can't charge it to your room. There is no room service and the staff as friendly as they are, openly talk of the appualling cost saving exercises they are put through
