Bail Mews

Bailgate, LINCOLN

A selection of properties providing a clean and comfortable budget alternative to our hotels. Properties range in size from 2 to five bedrooms and most are equipped with full self catering facilities. (please see individual descriptions) Properties are within a few minute's walk of Lincoln Castle and Cathedral and provide and excellent base from which to explore the historic city. There are over a dozen restaurants on the doorstep and breakfast is available at either the Bail house or Charlotte House Hotel should you require. I checked out after just one night, the facilities in no way resembled the promotional pictures. It was extremely noisy, with guests banging around as late as 04.20 in the morning.

Terrific location. Very clean. Lovely new bed and bath linen.
Staff have to come over from another hotel to let you in the secured gates and into your room if after 7pm.
Stayed in the mews house which was lovely but given the big rooms a couple of king sized beds would be more appreciated.
Kitchen was very basically equipped fine for one night but if you were staying a week or so you might want more no dishtowel provided to wash dishes for instance.

The main Charlotte House Hotel was lovely. Staff great. Our Charlotte House Lodge Apartment was not good. It was clean, basic and newly refurbished and thats about as good as it gets. It was no way a 5* accommodation. Basically the apartment is a refurbished office and looks like it, blinds at the window, fluresent lights on the ceiling, cheap (new) carpets, all done on a budget, no sign of luxury anywhere. No issues with that, but even at £109 reduced LateRooms price that was stretching it. £70-75 would have been more acceptable. Its on a busy road with traffice and foot traffic noise. Bedroom walls are like paper and you can hear conversations going on in the flat behind - we had a terrible nights sleep. We would stay again, but only at the BailHouse Mews or Charlotte House Hotel - definitely not in this apartment again. Breakfast at the CHH was lovely, very good quality and staff were all lovely.
