Temple Sowerby House is a delightful country hotel in the heart of a peaceful conservation village and set beneath the majestic sweep of the Pennines. The Temple Sowerby Bypass has returned the village to a charming, restful spot. The lovely old walled garden is an idyllic place to unwind!
Just a few minutes drive away is the beautiful Ullswater, one of Cumbria's finest Lakes and Temple Sowerby House is an ideal touring base for the Northern Lakes, Pennines and Yorkshire Dales - a different day, a different landscape!
A Grade II Listed building dating from 1727, the house has been sensitively restored to create just 12 individually-styled, en-suite bedrooms all with newly fitted, contemporary bathrooms.
Enjoy drinks on the terrace in summer or by blazing log fires in the comfortable lounges on cooler days.
The restaurant, overlooking the walled garden, features picture windows framed by columns of local sandstone and is the perfect setting for our 2 Rosette Dining Experience. The best of local produce is sourced, together with a selection of herbs, fruit and vegetables from the garden. Short breaks are available throughout the year.

Temple Sowerby House is easy to find with superb panoramic views of the snow topped Pennines.The welcome at the Hotel is personal , warm and friendly.It really makes you feel at home and the service was excemplary.The Ding room has beautiful views of a well kept walled garden. The food was absolutely first rate with an excellent choice of wines...and not to be missed are the 'friendly' size g & t!!!
