I was away on business and booked on-line. This hotel is on a caravan site and is really only for holidaymakers. It is not suitable for business travellers. It cost £69 per night which was too expensive for what was offered- better value elsewhere. I didn't like the look of the Spa either. |

We were a wedding party staying for two nights. The first night at 7.30pm we ordered food in the restaurant for fifteen people. We waited...and waited...and waited. After about forty-five minutes we noticed that some other guests who arrived in the restaurant after us were being served. We enquired as to the whereabouts of our food. We were told it wouldn't be long. After an hour we heard that the chef had thrown in the towel and gone home. However, a stand-in had apparently arrived and the food wouldn't be long now. After an hour and a half of waiting, many of our party had lost the will to live. We asked to see the manager but apparently he was on holiday. Lucky him. The guys at the bar next door supplied us with a round of free drinks, but that was little consolation to those of us who weren't drinking. By now, the late arrivals in the restaurant had finished their meals and were leaving. We hadn't received so much as a starter. After an hour and three quarters of waiting we were told our meals were "being prepared now". So what were they doing before? Finally, at 9.30pm (to much cheering) the first meal arrived. A mere two hours after we ordered. It didn't really matter that the order was incorrect. Nor did it matter that the starters we had paid for never arrived. We were hungry. One by one meals began to arrive. Eventually everyone had something, even if it wasn't what they wanted. I'd like to say that the quality of the food made up for all the waiting, but I can't. It was very basic pub grub. After a 300 mile journey from Chester it wasn't exactly the perfect end to a perfect day. Never mind...off for a good night's sleep. Well, it might have happened if the bed had been anything like comfortable or if there hadn't been quite so much noise from other guests/campers in the car park outside our room. The next morning at breakfast we discovered that the £5 a head that we'd paid for breakfast entitled us to a plate of poor quality bacon, sausage, egg and baked beans. Anyone who wanted fruit juice, cereal and toast (as provided by nearly all B&B establishments in our fair country) would have to pay extra. My wife and I were joined at breakfast by my parents who informed us that the bath/shower in their room gave cold water only. To be fair to the motel, this was attended to later that day. However, given the fact that the motel advertises itself as part of a five-star holiday site, all I can say is "nil points". Why come here when for the same money you can do much better in Dover or Deal. Stay away. You have been warned. |
