Walkhampton Inn, Dartmoor

Do not stay there when the band is playing!!

Food excellent, friendly atmosphere, very obliging. The hotel was easy to find. We would like to revisit once refurbishing has been completed, especially to stay in the red room. Well worth a visit.

Drain system excessively noisy. Room tired and in need of updating. Adequate but not worth a second visit.

Easy to find - used sat nav and put postcode in. Used the overflow car park just up the road at the local school.
Was rung earlier in day to ask if we wanted a table booked in the restaurant which was a nice touch.
Greeted by Alison in the bar and shown to (red) room promptly (it had been a long day!) Had meal in bar area - arrived fairly quickly.
Food good quality and quantity. Reasonable selection of real ales at bar. There appeared to be a good wireless internet
signal in the room but it needed a password to get into - Mike who knew this wasn't around but it really didn't matter for one night.
Selection of teas/coffee in room and decent size mugs rather than the usual hotel cups. Some toileteries in bathroom - plenty of hot water for decent size bath.
Good cooked breakfast tea coffee toast etc.
Only one minor niggle and this wasn't really the pub's fault was that after chucking out time several of the locals stayed in the car park area laughing and joking quite loudly for about an hour which was a bit annoying when trying to get to sleep - no doubt fueled by the fine selection of beer!
One they had gone it was very quiet.
