We were disappointed to be allocated a room in an annexe rather than in the hotel, especially as the hotel was clearly far from full. Only one other table was occupied at breakfast and the car park was almost empy. The room itself had no view (the website makes much of the view and presumably the inflated tariff is supposed to reflect this), the carpet was dirty, one of the lights didn't work, one of the windows was minus a latch so didn't shut properly and, on a cool night, the heaters were off. We noticed in the literature in the room that sherry was supposed to be provided. It wasn't. The fixtures, fittings and size of the room were very average - again not justifying the high price. We felt as if we were in a cheap motel rather than an upmarket hotel. The staff were friendly but breakfast service was extremely slow. The meal itself was unexceptional - certainly not value for the high price charged. We sat next to the table on which the fruit juices were available - noticed that the table was thick with dust. This is a nice building but with a dilapidated air, even to the hanging sign outside the door which is peeling. We felt very disappointed by this hotel, not least as we love Ludlow and were quite prepared to pay a little over the odds to spend the night there in a good quality hotel. This hotel did not deliver good quality or value for money. |
