The quality of the room was excellent, the bed comfortable and the bathroom lovely. However there were sticky patches on the bedside table and a soap mark on the bath.
The food was rather disappointing. I had expected better as it bills itself as a Restaurant with rooms. I had a mozarella, artichoke and tomatoe salad. Granted it’s not really seasonal but I expected it to have a bit of taste. The tomatoes were rather anaemic, the artichoke barely visible, the mozzarella a bit squishy and the vinaigrette pretty favourless. The coffee was awfull. The rest of the meal was OK but nothing to write home about. All in all if it wants to sell itself as a 5 star establishment it needs more attention to detail

Accomodation is excellent along with the breakfast. Didn't have evening meal there as I didn't arrive until late

The hotel is somewhat a hidden gem in the town. You wouldn't really know it was there, you certainly wouldn't believe what was behind the front doors.
Very welcoming, modern styled with a fair hint of the past. Certainly our kind of style.
Two restaurants with differing menus, our two night stay afforded us the choice to use both. First night we used the Brasserie, it was absolutely beautiful. In fact we enjoyed the Brasserie menu so much we didn't want to miss out on the second night so ate their again.
We have been fortunate enough to eat at some very nice restaurants, Gordon Ramseys Claridges twice and tThe Four seasons Hampshire to name but two. This food was right up there for us, albeit we ate the modern style Brasserie food.
Certainly the best steak meal I have ever eaten, my mouth is watering just typing this. The Bill? Well, you could more than easily spend the same money at a well known American Food Chain which is a travesty.
The room was lovely, great decor and plush furnishings. Quite possibly the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in. It was certainly the widest :-) The bathroom was large with a big enough bath for two to share a few cold glasses of wine.
Our host Sven was very friendly and accommodating, as were some of the locals that HAVE found this gem.
Cheltenham only 40 minutes away for some good shopping too.
All in all a fantastic experience which we WILL return to.
Highly Recommended
