Very friendly hotel and regulars to the bar. Comfortable beds, and great food. I had a thoroughly pleasant stay.

Perfectly adequate hotel, if nothing special. The decor was a bit eccentric, but the food was good (cooked breakfast is extra to the room rate though). Could make more of the fact that they are brilliantly located for the Coalbrookdale museums.

We thought the hotel was wonderful, the hosts were very friendly and made you feel special. The restaurant was top class, the food was excellent, nothing was too much trouble and we would recommend it to anybody visiting Shropshire.

The owner and staff and customers were very friendly and the service fantastic the food was very good and not silly priced but the one thing that let the hotel down was the bed, it was not very comfortable.

Check in was rather hurried, despite us arriving at 15:00. We were practically thrown into our room, with the check-in so rushed that the landlady had to come back to give us the key for the outside door she'd forgotten to give us. The room was small, but adequate for our needs for a one night stay. There was one power socket, shared between the kettle, the TV and the alarm clock - so no chance of a morning cuppa to the TV news then..
Onto the bathroom where a small middle area of the floor was spongy. I don't expect to have to tiptoe around the bathroom for fear of putting my foot through the floor in any hotel..
The mattress was hard - the springs appeared to have lost the will to live so collapsed as you lay on the bed. The bed itself was of an adequate size and to be honest we did (somehow) sleep quite well. There was little noise in the room from the pub itself.
In retrospect we should have complained, but as we were only there for one night and had driven a long way to get there, we unpacked and ventured elsewhere for food.
To the hotel's credit, the room was clean if tired and the breakfast the next morning (full English) as both satisfying and tasty. Check-out itself was painless enough but we were glad to leave. The whole pub/hotel has a feel of underinvestment, as if the present owners have ceased to care for the business - a fact made even more apparent when we noticed the FOR SALE signs on the outside of the hotel upon our departure.
It's hard to recommend this place for anybody. I'd expect more for £60 a night.
