Fine old house, well-modernised. Very hospitable, relaxed atmosphere. Close to town centre - walking distance. |

The hotel is clean, very well furnished and pleasant, and has good provision for business clients in a wireless network, good desk in room and well lit working areas. Lovely house, freindly proprietor and excellent service and food. Highly recommended. |

My husband and I needed a guest house as near to Halleybury College as possible. Park House is perfectly situated for this purpose. However, if that were not the case I would be reluctant to go back there due to the lack of reception skills. We were not directed to the house well at all (coming from France one would expect better help on the telephone as to where and how to reach the guest house; where to park the car. When we did arrive, we went into the adjacent house and knocked at the door. The pleasant young lady referred us to next door and we drove around the privet hedges. This need not have happened had the explanation on the telephone been less abrupt. The reception was hardly friendly - it was correct, however, although the fired questions made one feel as if we were being judged - would they run off and not pay! Then in the morning the breakfast was quite good, with extra bacon given generously. The problem arose when we tried to get our car out. The lady in reception. The same person who had received us, served breakfast and taken our money, had not bothered to move her car out of the way and my husband was forced to almost scrape the wall of the house. We eventually knocked at the door and she offered to move her car from the middle of the tiny parking area! However, having said that, the location is so good, and this lady did in fact tell us how to drive up to the College from the guest house well, I must add, that we may stay again as we will probably not find somewhere oàn the doorstep so easily. |
