We had a lovely time staying at the Star Inn. The welcome was excellent, and the food just as good as we had expected. The poached haddock for breakfast was fantastic! Well worth a trip..

The Star Inn works well as a restaurant, the interior is welcoming and the food is very good. However, the accommodaton is below average. The guest rooms are located in an external building that has no central heating, freestanding electric radiators were placed in the bedroom and bathroom but on cold nights this is insufficient. The plumbing was noisy, we could hear the next room flush the loo and the hot water took and age to come through. Also the bathroom floor was scuffed and looked grubby. My husband was unable to use his electric shaver as the sink below which the point is located was out of use. The TV was tiny and reception poor. Also, no hairdryer. Finally, when we asked at what time breakfast was available we were told between 9 and 9:30. Given that we had to be at Southampton Airport by 9:00 this was clearly unacceptable. We were given a bowl of meusli and milk in a thermos flask to take to our room after we finshed our evening meal! Overall, poor value for money.
