\Just back from a lovely weekend. The Hotel is a little hard to find in the dark but the directions are accurate, you just have to keep following the signs to Parkham. Good friendly service and very welcoming, the assistant Manager Emily is very helpful . Despite other reviews we decided to eat at the Hotel as did four other guests and the food was first class the wine is a little expensive but very good . Good value for money hotel, we will return again. |

Very quiet and a bit lacking in atmosphere, so don't go here expecting a party or lively banter in the hotel bar! However, if you are after a quiet retreat to gather your thoughts and get away from it all, it's perfect. The staff are very friendly and non-intrusive and the rooms fantastic value for money, if a little old-fashioned. It's hidden away in the sticks a bit (don't trust your satnav!). Breakfast one of the best I've ever eaten, cooked fresh to exact requirements. I ate evening meals in the local pub (it's your ONLY option if you don't want to drive 10 miles), which was very much 'for local people!' but food was decent enough and reasonable prices. One other thing, you won't need an alarm clock at the hotel as they have 12 ducks to do the honours! Because it's in the sticks, there's no broadband either, so don't bring your work with you! |

A real find! An excellent standard for a small hotel. The room had been newly decorated, it was luxurious and had a view of the lawns and the antics of the ducks in the morning. The service was excellent, the staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfasts were freshly cooked and set you up for the day. The only suggestion is that the atmosphere in the bar/lounge would be enhanced by subdued lighting and an evening menu that completes with the pub up the road so that it attracts more custom; its difficult to feel comfortable if you are the only diners. Nevertheless, the hotel is highly recommended for a short break and we will definitely be staying again. |
