When the night club music was switched off at 0310hrs i managed to get a good 2 hours sleep.

Management Response
We apologise for the lack of sleep the guest got that night, unfortunately the music wasn't coming from our hotel, a new Bar on Union Street was having its opening night that evening and had a much later night than normal. We weren't aware that it would go on so late and I believe this to be a one off and shouldn't affect our guests in the future

In the middle of the night there was a leak through the ceiling on to us in bed. Staff relocated us to another room the following day, but said there had been a similar problem before. Why did they not fix it properly the first time?

Quite adequate for our needs. Looks nicer in real life than in the photos I've seen. Good food in the bar: restaurant food, not bar food really, and quite expensive for bar food, I thought, but good nonetheless. Huge room in the annexe across the road, with good shower. Room looked a bit bare, as it was so large, but it was quiet and clean. The windows didn't fit very well, and I imagine this'll cause a problem in winter, with the sea breezes! Very good breakfast, lots of choice and plenty of it. Shame tea was served from a flask, as after a while it develops a nasty stewed taste. Free parking was very handy, but situated a block away from the main building, though there was CCTV.

I was delighted with my stay in this hotel. The bedroom was spotless & comfortable, and the bedlinen was warm enough for an unseasonably cold night- which is frequently not the case in 'chain' hotels. My only criticism is that the shower, when turned on fully, was painfully hot, and the only way of cooling it down seemed to be to reduce the water flow- a design fault which isn't easily cured, I know. I was most impressed with both the evening meal I had and both my breakfasts. Staff were friendly but unobtrusive, and the atmosphere was calm and relaxing. I particularly appreciated the lack of unnecessary 'music' in the bar area. I had two excellent nights' sleep and was refreshed and ready for the day's work. Thanks to all at Yelfs for a most enjoyable stay.
