Stayed here May 2008. Fantastic location on the Castle side of the King Charles Bridge surrounded by reasonably priced cafe bars and restaurants, if you look around some are very cheap. About 15 minute walk over the Bridge to the Old Town Square which is beautiful but much more expensive to eat/drink (search out the backstreets). A delightful/secure residence with 7 rooms (Room 8 is the managers office at the top) on 4 floors. There is no elevator so elderly/infirm/families with young children would struggle. If you want peace and quiet choose the back of the Hotel (Rooms 1,3,5,7) but you will be looking out only onto a whitewashed wall, although Room 7 (where we stayed) is in the attic and looks over the nearby rooftops. The front rooms (2,4,6) have nice views onto the picturesque street but will encounter the hub-hub of the crowds making their way to/from the Bridge a few yards away. The enormous rooms have King size beds which can split in twins. Small fridge, TV and safe are included in price. En suite bathrooms are very large with shower but no bath. Rooms are cleaned/towels changed everyday. No reception as such, contact is made through an intercom at the locked front door where you will be met by the Manager Michal who is a star. Very helpful, nothing is too much trouble for him. For breakfast you receive a voucher for 200 Crowns per person to use at the Bomehia Bagel Cafe which is on the street straight out of the Hotel about 20 meters away, very nice it was too. I would recommend using the Taxi Service (690 Crowns each way) offered to and from Ruzny airport. You can do it cheaper by bus/tram but if you have luggage and dont know the City its worth paying extra for door to door service. First time in Prague and we love it! Would definately recommend this Hotel and would stay here again. |
