We made the perfect choice to stay at this B&B. We have stayed at other B&B's in Windemere but The Cranleigh raises the bar of comfort and luxury way beyond the next level. Prices are very competitive and the breakfast is the best we've have ever had. Just 2 mins walk and your in the village with all the shops/pubs/resterants and the lake. The staff are brilliant and the rooms are kept spotless. This Cranleigh has got a warm soul to it which makes you soak into a feeling of calmness and comfort. |

The pictures on the internet showed a re-furbished room but on arrival we were put in a room that was only due to be done in three weeks time. The main building was very nice and warm day and night but once again during the day our room and building was freezing, we had to request that the heating be put on.The room was clean and the staff were very friendly and yes I would stay again once all the rooms have all been re-done. |

The website was misleading from our point of view. This was our 40th wedding anniversary and first time to the Lake District and the standard room (£70 per night) was sub-standard in our view. It was not en-suite and not even part of the main building. The room was lower ground floor in a separate detached house. The manager apologised (reduced price to £55) and said that the rooms were due for refurbishment and they were asking people to bear with them. Simply not good enough. Why should customers have to 'bear with' this when they are paying for it? In our view this room should not have been let until refurbished. It was too small for a double in our opinion. We left after one night (3 booked - breakfast very nice) and found a really nice room in a pub close by @ £60 per night. I cannot recommend this hotel on my experience. We were left extremely disappointed and our trip was saved only by the friendly pub staff and pleasant accommodation. |

Although the hotel information said that the rooms were being upgraded, the quality of the room was not reflected in the price. i have stayed in better rooms for less money. It would have been usefu to have been told that our room was in a separate building to the main hotel. |
