Ascot Opera

2 rue Monsigny, Paris

Come to discover a place cordial and colourful, where decoration combines a subtle mixture of modern and ancient and especially calms it in full centre of the City of Light...
Ascot Hotel, three-star hotel in full centre and with calms in Paris, close to the Grand Louvre and at two minutes of the Place de l’Opéra, located in the district of the businesses, of tourism and of shopping, was an ancient private mansion of the 19th century of the famous musician Offenbach, author of "Parisian life" inter alia. We preserved the beams which give him a particular charm. That’s an ideal site for those which like to stroll towards the department stores like Printemps or the Galleries Lafayette. Our hotel wants to be accessible from the entry to your room and the personnel will have a pleasure of making your stay pleasant.
On our premises, you will feel comfortable, between friends. The hotel lays out to the conditioning, one elevator and one laundry service. You have at the same time a bar (with alcohol) and a mini-bar at your disposal.
With our devoted collaborators, we will put all we can do so that your stay in Paris is a success and an unforgettable memory. We know to occupy ourselves of each one of our customers with patience and competence.
On our premises, you are a host - not a simple customer.
Still needs other arguments? To sleep with calms in a small street close to the place of will the Opéra.
And if we say to you that your breakfast can be been useful in your room without supplement or that we will organize with you - and with pleasure - the small surprise which you wish to reserve to your spouse to mark such or such occasion?
Wouldn't that all give you finally desire for coming on our premises?
I would have a pleasure of answering all your questions at the time of your next stay on our premises... See you very soon!

This was unquestionably the worst hotel experience I have ever had in my life. When I found the hotel on the Laterooms website, I thought I had found a reasonable hotel with what appeared to be decent rooms and amenities. What ultimately transpired was a complete and utter lack of correlation between the price of the hotel, my expectations based on that price, and reality. At 400 Euros for the combined stay, the hotel would have been marginally acceptable. At 800 Euros, the cost of the accomodations was criminal at best.
Unfortunately given the timing of our arrival, once we were there, we did not have the option of cancelling our reservation altogether and securing a different hotel, otherwise we would have been out of there in a second upon seeing the quality of the accomodations.
To begin with, the pictures and descriptions provided on the Laterooms website are completely misleading and misrepresenative of the actual rooms we were provided, bordering on fraudulent. Given the quality of the rooms, the rates are completely exorbitant and unjustified. We had booked a single and a twin room for the stay (based on the options on the Lateroom website) but were initially provided a single and double, ultimately being allocated a twin, albeit in a separate site. Even when discussing the initial accomodations, and the discrepancy between what we had reserved and what we were provided initially, the hotel staff were argumentative in terms of trying to deny what we had requested as accomodations. Effecitively their message was that we should be glad to take what was available.
The single room was pathetically small, with little natural light or ventilation. The bathroom facilities were approximately 2 feet by 6, the sink was so small and its placement was such that it was extremely difficult to even shave. For the first two nights, the shower was missing one of its doors, leaving the bathroom exposed to water streaming from the shower. Apparently the only person in Paris capable of making repairs was on vacation, and the only individual who seemed to be aware of the situation was the chambermaid. On the third day of our stay I was moved to a similar room, with actual working shower doors, however, for the first night, the air conditioning was inoperative - due to the fact that the only person who had access to the remote control (the chambermaid), was (justifiably) unavailable at midnight to resolve the problem. As such the room was stifling until well into the early morning. When I complained about the conditions and my ability to get a decent sleep, the response was to the effect that they did found this to be incredible, and not possible, that of course I was able to sleep...as if the conditions were my responsibility.
The twin room first allocated was also pathetic. One would expect a twin room to actually have two beds, and not one bed and one cot (which was uneven and completely uncomfortable). And, because it was also on two levels, the air conditioning was not capable of providing any cooling to the lower level. All this for 110 Euros per night, a ridiculous sum for such substandard conditions.
The hotel staff were completely unreceptive, responding to concerns raised with comments that bordered on insolence. When the issue of the difference between the rooms depicted and reality was raised, the response was to the effect that they had 54 rooms and therefore could not possibly post pictures of all of them on the website. While I am not so naive as to expect that all rooms are exactly the same as the ones represented, I do expect that they should be of similar quality and comfort - especially at the prices being posted as being the cost of the room depicted. At this point I am skeptical that the rooms that were shown on the website even exist as we were unable to figure out where they were within the hotel proper.
The one individual with whom I was dealing with had the audacity to walk away from me as I was speaking, stating that he was no longer listening to me. Effectively the absolute worst display of arrogane and lack of consideration I have ever encountered in a service establishment. I have dealt with taxation authorities who are capable of displaying more courtesy than the individuals with whom we had to interact during our stay.
When I asked what they thought I should say about the hotel and our stay, the response was that they did not care what I said. Based on that response and the complete lack of satisfaction, I will ensure that everyone I know and can contact through whatever means available, whether connections at work or otherwise, will be made aware of my complete and utter disatisfaction with this establishment.

The hotel is in a really nice part of Paris and very central, so it was easy to get to all the main attractions. There were some really nice restaurants to choose from and plenty of good shops too. The hotel was clean and well maintained and the hotel room suited our requirements very well. The staff were pleasant and helpful. Only one comment I would make was that the room was not cleaned until very late in the afternoon around 6ish and there was often cleaning equipment left in the narrow hallways which was a health and safety risk. All in all we had a great stay and would recommend the hotel for its ideal location.
