Overpriced and underpowered! The food was good but it should be at the price. We asked for a quiet room with aircon. We ended up in a room at the top of the building that must have formerly been a cupboard. The aircon didn't work for the first night - and the control was stuck behind the wardrobe. The closest we got to aircon was the constant drone from the unit on top of the building across from our window. With other peoples kids running up and down the corridor at 2230 and a group outside our door loudly discussing their day at 0130 we hardly slept a wink.
The hotel staff were good we still didn't get what we paid through the nose for.

Stay in hotels in Edinburgh ona regular basis, the is the worst one I have stayed in, unfriendly staff, terrible food, stay at the Balmoral!

Considering this is suppose to be a 5* hotel the room left a lot to be desired. It was very small and very basic. The bed was also very uncomfortable with a very cheap mattress that you could feel all the springs. Unfortunately the caledonian was a major disappointment and very poor value for money. Not somewhere i would choose to go for a romantic night in Edinburgh with my girlfriend.
