the room was overpriced at the standard rate of £130 per night - we obtained it at £90 per nigh through Laterooms and that was acceptable - I would only recommend it at that rate or less. Otherwise this is a lovely hotel with friendly helpful staff in a lovely setting.

Despite the best efforts of the staff the service was very slow - probably due to the fact that the Bar Manager was having to assist with food and there were only 2 young (but very efficient) waitresses serving.

We came to see the steam show held in Pickering so the price was higher than we would have expected to pay for accommodation but we were glad to be able to stay not far from the show. The room was small but clean and nicely decorated. We did not have an evening meal but the full English breakfast was great. All of the staff were very helpful and friendly.
