The Grand Hotel

Grand Parade, Tynemouth near Newcastle Upon Tyne

The Grand Hotel, which was originally built in 1872 as a home for the Duchess of Northumberland, is majestically situated on a cliff top commanding some of the most stunning views of natural coastline in the country. The hotel is steeped in history and has been carefully refurbished with no expense being spared to create its own individual style of elegance and luxury. It offers a great base from which to explore the coastal areas, Newcastle City, and rural Northumbria. We offer 44 luxurious guest bedrooms, many with stunning sea views. We also have an acclaimed Victoria Restaurant offering full A la Carte and Plat du Jour menus, a relaxed drawing room with sea-views and Copperfields Bar offering traditional home cooked meals. The Hotel has on its doorstep the award winning Tynemouth Longsands beach and is only three minutes walk from both the historic Tynemouth Priory and Castle and the picturesque village of Tynemouth village. The latter featuring many bars, restaurants and village-style shops.

Very nice - some big old hotels like this are in reality awful, but the Tynemouth Grand really lives up to its billing. We arrived on a tandem and they found us a safe place to store the bike indoors without any badgering, so two thumbs up for the service. Would definitely stay there again.

Room was really nice but very hot and the windows seemed to have been painted shut.

My first impression are very good. Quality hotel in a very good location. Pub on site does good food and is excellent value. The nearby village also has lots of choice.

Fab views. Lovely lounges, staff very unintrusive. Booked on the day so were thrilled to be given a very nice room. Pub adjoining very pleaant with affable staff and good grub. Would definitely stay again even though live fairly near.
